We currently offer three simulators

We currently have simulators for three mining and tunnelling operations, which can be used by contractors, mining companies and training institutes to train its underground operators in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner.

3d Shotcrete simulator™

Shotcreting is one of the most critical and time-consuming aspects in underground operations. The skill-level amongst the nozzlemen can mean the difference between a successful and unsuccessful project outcome.

The 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ was released in 2013 and is now a renowned product used globally for training of nozzlemen. Over 400 nozzlemen has gone through training with the simulator and it is used by actors such as Jetcrete Oz in Australia, Marti Tunnelbau in Switzerland and the Tunneling and Underground Construction Academy in Great Britain. The simulator has also been scientifically validated as an efficient training tool by the Division of Engineering Psychology at Luleå University of Technology.

Edvirt® offers shotcrete contractors, mining companies and training institutes to use the simulator to train nozzlemen in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner.

BENEFITS

  • Enhance the skills of your sprayed concrete nozzlemen through simulator training.
  • Accelerate the learning curve of your novice operators and correct bad habits of experienced ones.
  • Standardized training and objective assessment of all operators.
  • Training without interfering production and occupying machines.
  • Training in a safe environment without novice operators being exposed to dangerous situations.
  • Training without wear and tear on machines and wasting materials.
  • Get nozzlemen up to speed with new spraying equipment.
  • Effective simulator-based recruitment assessments.
  • Standardized yearly quality assessment of nozzlemen.

 OUTCOME

  • Increase safety of operations through diminishing the number of spraying failures like e.g. fallouts/dropouts and misdirected spraying.
  • Lower costs through reduced rebound rates and over-spraying. Proven 25% reduction of rebound for novice operators, during the first 6 months after commencement.
  • Enhance quality through best practice spraying and correct concrete thicknesses.

TESTIMONIALS

The simulator is adapted to our needs of having the same robot as in production as well as assignments mirroring the skills needed for our spraying conditions.

SIZE

Portable simulator packed into three flight cases.

MODES

"2D" and 3D (active stereoscopic).

ASSIGNMENTS

There are 20 assignments in the simulator and it takes approx. 20-40 hours to complete them all dependent on the skill-level of the nozzleman.

Operators will learn about the following things in the assignments:

  • Startup and shutdown procedure
  • Safe spraying (operator position, avoiding fallouts etc.)
  • Use of remote control and robot maneuvering
  • Spraying angle and distance
  • Concrete adhesion and rebound
  • Pump and accelerator dosage
  • Preparation and washing of rock surface
  • Spraying small and large areas
  • Concrete waste optimization
  • Systematic spraying
  • Spraying with concrete thickness or surface smoothness as goal
  • Time-limited spraying
  • Corner spraying
  • Spraying and filling over-breaks
  • Spraying of mesh and girders

TUNNELS

The 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ has a full range of mine and tunnel environments, enabling it training to be adapted to nozzlemens’ current or future need. The environments are captured from real tunnel and mine scans. Edvirt® also offers customers the option to have their own 3D scans integrated in to the simulator.

MACHINES

Edvirt® can integrate any machine available in the market. The client's choice of machine and machine-specific remote control will be supplied with the simulator.

The following machines are currently available with the simulator:

  • Roboshot Maxijet
  • CSU8000
  • AMV6400
  • MEYCO Potenza
  • MEYCO ME3
  • Spraymec 8100 VC
  • Spraymec 6050 WP
  • SPM500

3d Scaling SIMULATOR™

Edvirt Scaling Simulator
1.png

The development of the 3D Scaling Simulator™ was initiated in 2014 by Edvirt® and the Swedish mining company LKAB and is already an established product used globally for training of machine scaling operators.

Experience exceptional simulation realism of the machine scaling process with a robust system, original OEM machine integrations, and authentic sounds recorded from mine sites. The intuitive user interface and the pedagogical training approach makes the simulator an ideal training tool.

The simulator is perfect for mines and tunneling actors focused on improving productivity, reducing costs from unscheduled maintenance, and increasing operator safety. The simulator enables measurable and systematic competence development, and is designed to make the operator reach an acceptable performance level after a week of simulator training.

BENEFITS

  • Time-efficient training course including both theory and practice.
  • Accelerate the learning curve of your novice operators and correct bad habits of experienced ones.
  • Standardized training and objective assessment of all operators.
  • Training without interfering production and occupying machines.
  • Training in a safe environment without novice operators being exposed to dangerous situations.
  • Training without wear and tear on machines.
  • Effective simulator-based recruitment assessments.
  • Get operators up to speed with new scaling equipment.
  • Standardized yearly quality assessment of workforce.

OUTCOME

  • Increase safety of operations with correct scaling techniques and procedures.
  • Lower costs through prolonged equipment life-time.
  • Enhance quality through best practice machine scaling.

SIZE

The simulator is offered in two designs:

  • Portable simulator packed into three flight cases
  • Simulator with chassi for higher realism, transported on a pallet
