E4 Stockholm Bypass sprayed concrete operator certification

All sprayed concrete operators working in the E4 Stockholm Bypass project are obligated to be project certified. The certification is issued by Trafikverket (The Swedish Transport Administration) and includes both theoretical and practical training and assessment. The practical part is performed on Edvirt's 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ at Trafikverket's facilities in Kista, Stockholm.

All operators have to go through and pass 17 assignments on the simulator. The training course is scheduled through Edvirt. Having operators working in the project without a valid certification is accounted as a contract breach between the hired contractor and Trafikverket.

Edvirt at MinExpo in Las Vegas

At the end of September, Edvirt exhibited at MinExpo in Las Vegas. Together with BASF and Putzmeister, attendees got to try the Atlas Copco MEYCO Versa and Putzmeister SPM500 machines. 

Additionally, this was the first time the public got to try the Putzmeister SPM500 machine which was recently implemented into the simulator.

Training and certification with Peace River Hydro Partners in Canada

In September Edvirt delivered it's first training with the newly implemented SPM500 machine, following the recent collaboration with Putzmeister. To ensure that site engineers have the know-how and that shotcrete operators meet the designated standards, PRHP is working with Edvirt to issue the internal certification Nozzleman Training Certificate to its employees. The certificate is based on the theory and training offered for the ESCOT™ certificate as well as the EFNARC certification.

Collaboration with Putzmeister

Recently, Edvirt and Putzmeister started a collaboration in order to enable training for the Putzmeister SPM500 Wetkret machine. 

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, operators receive a Putzmeister SPM 500 Wetkret Operator Certificate; as well as the internationally recognized ESCOT™ certificate (Edvirt® Sprayed Concrete Operator Training).

Euro Mine Expo in Skellefteå

In June Edvirt, together with JAMA, attended Euro Mine Expo in Skellefteå, Sweden. This was the first exhibition at which our 3D Scaling Simulator was demonstrated. 

A big congratulations to Andreas Norberg who won the virtual scaling competition, and was awarded the Master Scaler Competition Trophy.

WTC in San Francisco

In april, Edvirt attended the World Tunneling Congress in San Francisco and exhibited together with BASF.

BASF also held a Spray Master Competition at the conference where some lucky winners walked home with trophies, after doing a fantastic virtual spraying job.

Sprayed concrete workshop with Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia

Edvirt took part of a sprayed concrete workshop arranged by BASF for Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia between 4-7 April. The around 40 participants from OT and Red Path got to learn about sprayed concrete though theoretical, practical and simulator sessions.

A big congratulations to Joshua Watson who won the virtual spraying competition, and was awarded the Master Sprayer Competition Trophy.

Edvirt among the 33 hottest tech companies!

Edvirt had the privilege of being named one of the 33 hottest (33-listan) young tech companies in Sweden, chosen by NyTeknik and Affärsvärlden.

Machine Scaling Training with Agnico Eagle

At the end of January, Edvirt performed training for Agnico Eagle Mines in Kittilä, Finland. 8 operators went through the EMSOT (Edvirt® Machine Scaling Operator Training) course, including both theory and practical simulator training. 

Edvirt in Norway

At the end of november, Edvirt attended Fjellspregningskonferensen in Norway. A competition was held with the simulator, and in the picture the lucky winner Helene Strømsvik can be seen standing next to Kristian Storhamar from BASF.

Edvirt in Dubai

At the end of november, Edvirt attended the Arabic Tunneling Conference & Exhibition together with BASF.

Training in the U.S.

At the end of August, Edvirt performed a spray concrete training week for Barrick Gold together with BASF. Approx. 20 people got the chance to try the 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ with the included course package.

Edvirt in Singapore

Edvirt took part of BASF's and Atlas Copco's "Sprayed concrete workshop" in Singapore in July. The around 80 participants from all over Asia got to see real spraying with the MEYCO ORUGA and got to try virtual spraying using the MEYCO POTENZA and MEYCO VERSA.

3D Scaling Simulator™ released!

During the last 1,5 years, Edvirt has developed a simulator for training machine scaling operators. The main objective of the simulator is to educate operators and thereby gain increased production productivity and safety.

Over 300 operators and 19 000 m³ sprayed!

Over 300 operators at various places around the world has now gone through virtual training with Edvirt's 3D Shotcrete Simulator™. These operators have used over
19 000 m³ of concrete during their time in the simulator. "This is a small, but great step towards our vision of only seeing properly trained sprayed concrete operators in production", says Eric Göransson, CEO Edvirt AB. 
 

New features: "Hardening concrete" and "Overbreak filling"

Edvirt has recently finished the development of two new advanced features in the 3D Shotcrete Simulator™. Operators can now in real-time see when the concrete is hardening. This knowledge can help them to establish when it is safe and efficient to put on a second layer as well as when it is okay to walk under the concrete.

The second feature, Overbreak filling, builds on the Hardening concrete feature. This feature teaches operators to focus on spraying a smooth surface and fill an overbreak, rather than applying a certain thickness, while also teaching the operators to wait for the concrete to harden before adding more layers.

New world record!

Stoyan Stoyanov from Dundee Precious Metals is the new world record holder for virtual sprayed concrete training. Mr Stoyanov completed all 18 training scenarios in Edvirt's 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ in only 8 hours, 41 minutes and 45 seconds, which is the fastest time yet. Mr Stoyanov performed his training at Blue Square's training facility in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Edvirt with Atlas Copco at Bauma China 2014

In november, Edvirt showcased the 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ at Bauma China 2014 together with Atlas Copco. The 300 000 m2 fair attracted approximately 180 000 visitors, whereby many got to see and try virtual concrete spraying.
 

Edvirt at Fjellsprengeren with BASF

In the end of 2014 Edvirt showcased the 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ at Fjellsprengningskonferensen in Oslo, Norway, together with BASF. A competition was held with the simulator which concluded with a lucky winner of an Ipad.
