From research to industry standard

Edvirt® was founded in order to fulfill the need of training sprayed concrete nozzlemen in an efficient way- in the virtual world.

But many questioned, "Can we simulate sprayed concrete?". The answer became "Yes" in 2010 after getting the results from a research project, conducted at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. The project included the development of a prototype "shotcrete simulator" to be used for training of nozzlemen. Eric Göransson and Petter Börjesson based the first product on that prototype and founded Edvirt® in 2013 with the aim of standardizing virtual training of nozzlemen.

The simulator is now used globally for training of sprayed concrete nozzlemen and has even been introduced by authorities as a mandatory certification tool in tunneling projects. Edvirt® continuously work with spreading its 3D Shotcrete Simulator™ to new markets, as well as introducing other simulation tools to be used to cut costs, enhance quality and increase safety in mining and tunneling operations.

Edvirt® was in 2021 acquired by DSI Underground - a company part of the SANDVIK group.
