Sprayed concrete operator training course

Shotcreting is one of the most critical and time-consuming aspects in underground operations. The skill-level amongst the sprayed concrete operators can mean the difference between a successful and unsuccessful project outcome, and can play a central role in the reliability and safety involved in the tunneling or mining process. Any skill-gap that operators may have, affects the safety and productivity of the project significantly. Inferior skills are likely to create poor quality by operators spraying too thick or too thin shotcrete layers. High rebound rates from operators combined with over- or under-spraying leads to wasted material and high costs. Though most importantly, operators need to be properly trained in order to perform concrete spraying in a safe manner, avoiding fallouts and misdirected sprayed concrete, which can cause serious or fatal injuries.

To address this, Edvirt® offers a training course for sprayed concrete operators. The purpose of the course is to enhance the operators ability to handle shotcrete spraying in a way that ensures safety during and after production, minimizes material waste and guarantees the quality of the shotcrete lining.

Location

Duration

• 5 days per participant

• Modules: Theoretical training, Practical training

• 1 day theory + 4 days practice with simulator


Target group

• The course is adapted to fit both novice and experienced operators (nozzlemen)

• The practical training will be tailored to the skill-level of the participant

MODULE 1: THEORETICAL TRAINING

Classroom-based theoretical training, taught by an experienced trainer.

Participants will learn about the following processes during the theoretical training session:

  • Rock and ground support
  • Concrete technology
  • Spraying equipment
  • Application and spraying technique
  • Health, safety and environment

The participants are assessed with a theoretical test.

 

*Basic level training required prior to the Advanced level.


 

MODULE 2: PRACTICAL TRAINING

Practical training with simulator.

Participants will learn about the following processes in simulator assignments, during the practical training session:

Basic level

  • Startup and shutdown procedure
  • Safe spraying (operator position, avoiding fall-outs etc.)
  • Use of remote control and robot maneuvering
  • Spraying angle and distance
  • Concrete adhesion and rebound
  • Pump and accelerator dosage
  • Preparation and washing rock surface
  • Spraying small and large areas
  • Thickness control and waste minimization
  • Systematic spraying
  • Time-limited spraying
  • Corner spraying

Advanced level*

  • Spraying and filling over-breaks
  • Learning concrete setting, by spraying multiple layers
  • Spraying with surface smoothness as goal
  • Slope stabilization
  • Spraying mesh
  • Spraying lattice and steel girders
  • Cross section spraying

DIPLOMA

Participants passing the course will receive an 'Edvirt® – Sprayed Concrete Operator Diploma, Basic Level'.

Machine scaling operator training course

Significant costs are associated with the scaling process, particularly during training where scaling machines and mentors must be taken out of production. Safety during and after the scaling process is another factor that varies a lot depending on the quality of the job performed. Furthermore, it is also difficult to train operators in a structured and standardized way in real production. Scaling operators are in general trained through an apprenticeship process and as a result, one can see huge differences between operators’ skills in performing safe, cost-efficient and high quality jobs.

To address this Edvirt® offers a training course for machine scaling operators. The purpose of the course is to enhance quality,  increase safety and productivity in the future scaling operations performed by operators attending the course.

  • Safe scaling (machine position, avoiding rock break-ins etc.)
  • Systematic scaling
  • Scaling angle and distance
  • Scaling areas
  • Emergency procedure
  • Shutdown procedure

 

         DIPLOMA

Injection
